We are extremely proud to share that our own Kelly Shaffer recently received the Hanover Athletic Booster Club Alumni Award. Way to go, Kelly!
The Alumni Award is presented to an alumnus who has been out of high school a minimum of four (4) years and who has accomplished significant athletic or athletic-related accomplishments since graduation from Hanover High School. For the first time in recent memory, this year’s recipient did not know in advance because she was already planning to attend the banquet.
Kelly is a 1989 graduate of Hanover High School where she played 4 years of volleyball and was a varsity basketball player her sophomore through senior years. She was the first Hawkette in history to record a 3 point basket in 1988 when the 3 point shot rule first went into effect. In her senior year the basketball team qualified for the state playoffs.
She has been the 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball coach at Hanover for the past 7 years and she also helps out at both the Youth League, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. When not coaching, she can be found cheering on other Hanover athletes at various events or even helping out at one of the Booster Club concession stands.
